Brent H. Woodworth – Executive Director

Brent is a well known leader in global risk, crisis management, community relations and collaborative partnership development. He has a distinguished history of working with governments, private sector corporations, and non-profit organizations.  At IBM, where he worked for 32 years and retired in 2007, Brent initiated and led the development and management of all worldwide crisis response team operations.  He began volunteering in emergency services during 9/11 when he realized that first responders were without methods of communication and got walkie-talkies and Blackberry phones donated and distributed.

Phillip C. Hill – President

Philip serves as Chairman of Dignity Health’s California Hospital Medical Center.  He is also a Senior Partner at the Onyx Group, specializing in guiding client-centered organization in highly competitive environments towards excellence, and was the CEO and General Manager at the Los Angeles Convention and Exhibition Center recognized as one of the nation’s most successful public venues – including regional disaster management support programs.

William Lim -Vice President

William founded Claris Strategy in 2012 with the intent of having a consulting practice that brings clarity (the “aha” moment) to their many clients, a creativity drawn from design strategy that marries both right brain and left brain ideas, and a simplicity in the concept that can be clearly conveyed and implemented.  During his seventeen year career at Gensler, his positions included airport designer and the firm’s applied technology leader, 

Brie Loskota – Secretary

Brie is the executive director of the Center for Religion and Civic Culture at USC. Her research focuses on how religions change and make change in the world. She is co-founder and senior advisor to the American Muslim Civic Leadership Institute and a trainer-facilitator with the United State Institute of Peace’s Generation Change program, where she has trained young leaders from across the Middle East and Africa. Brie’s expertise is vast – she has a specialized focus with: community resilience and disaster response; faith-based organizations; government-religious engagement and partnership; religious pluralism, change and innovation; faith community leadership; international security, conflict and affairs.

Simon Baker – Treasurer

Simon is Fox Entertainment Group’s Treasurer and has over 20 years of financial management, operations and CPA equivalent experience including CFO at Dove Entertainment, SVP of Finance at Sony Pictures Entertainment and Principal at Baker Consulting Services.  He is an expert in domestic and international cash management and very experienced with managing daily cash transactions in excess of $500 million.

Lars Gustavsson – Member

Lars is a Senior Executive Officer and Vice President for Humanitarian & Emergency Affairs, Collaboration and Business Innovation, is responsible for expanding World Vision’s capacity to engage more fully in the broad sectors of International Development, Global Policy, Humanitarianism and Disaster Management.  Lars is also charged with organizing leaders within World Vision for Global Relationships, Collaboration or Partnerships across a range of Transnationals – including the following: other NGOs, UN agencies, Corporations, Foundations, Church, Military, Academia and other Civil Society and Public institutions to enhance World Vision’s presence and impact.

Peter Katona, MD – Member

Peter is a Clinical Professor of Medicine in Infectious Diseases at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He has worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an EIS Officer studying viral diseases and doing epidemic investigation; and at Apria/Corum Healthcare as their Corporate Medical Director.

Jack Knott – Member

Jack is the C. Erwin and Ione L. Piper Dean and Professor of the Sol Price School of Public Policy at the University of Southern California.  Before joining USC, Dean Knott served from 1997 until 2005 as professor of political science and director of the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Chicago.  From 1987 to 1997, Dean Knott was a professor in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University, where he served as departmental chair and director of Michigan State’s Institute for Public Policy and Social Research.

Dale S Zuehls CPA, JD, PhD, CFF, ABV, CGMA, ACFE – Member

Dale has practiced for over 35 years, has taught at several Southern California Universities, and held various leadership positions within the Big 4 accounting environment.  He also led KPMG’s exempt organization tax practice for the Western United States.  Dale received his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law (Los Angeles, CA); Bachelor of Science, Accounting in California State University (Los Angeles, CA).
